Responding to a Major Environmental Issue as a Chef

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

There are many environmental issues that affect everyone today. Many of these problems are caused mainly by human activities. Unfortunately, there are some things you can avoid doing altogether. For example, can hardly avoid driving your car. Can not be stopped completely with water or energy. However, there are some things you can do to reduce potential environmental risks. You can address an important issue for the environment after another. The important thing is that you know of these problems.

One of the most important environmental problems Chef

In truth, all environmental concerns regards chef. No problem for the environment is more important than others. Of course, there are some issues that may affect the chefs more than others, but this does not change the fact that the cooks should be concerned about the environment. They must do their part to ensure a healthy environment.

There are many issues that concern you as a chef. Of course, all these problems affect everyone. Some of these problems include global warming, climate change, strange and unpredictable genetic erosion, habitat destruction, extinction of species of coral, whales, energy saving, energy efficiency, renewable energy, renewable energy marketing, pollution genetics, irrigation, meat production, overgrazing, desertification, soil contamination, soil erosion, soil conservation, soil pollution, nuclear energy, pollution and all its types, ozone depletion, depletion of natural resources, the explosion of fishing, bottom trawling, illegal logging, deforestation, waste disposal and burial.

No problem for the environment requires more attention than others. All these things are concerned. Of course, as a cook, you can only do so much. One can only answer and correct those that are within the control away.

In response to one problem after another environment

The first thing to do to address environmental problems is the decision of going green. It may seem daunting, since it requires lifestyle changes, but eventually will adapt to change. To make it easier for you, you can start with the simplest things first.

For instance, you can start with changing your light. Use fluorescent bulbs in the kitchen and home. If everyone just choose to change your light bulbs, imagine the impact this would have created a problem for the environment. This would reduce pollution. If you have a restaurant, you can still use fluorescent lighting to create a warm atmosphere.

There are many things you can do in the kitchen to help solve a problem for the environment – energy and water waste. Take these assets and convert them into a team. Definitely if you want to save water to rinse dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. You’ll save gallons of water, avoiding rinsing. Also save a lot of time and energy. As a chef, you’re the boss. If you want to help save the environment, and adopt this practice.

Another way to respond to this environmental problem is to avoid cooking activities such as pre-heat the oven. Except, you’re going to make bread or cakes, avoid the preheated oven. You can simply activate when placed inside the pot. You can also save energy if you want to avoid opening the oven door every time it is the dish or food. And ‘advisable, therefore, to equip your kitchen with an oven with a window, so you can always look out the window when the control of food.

If you are responsible for menu planning, perhaps you should create a day in which, obviously, can only serve vegetarian dishes vegetarian dishes. This is an excellent way to conserve water. Imagine how many gallons of water are needed to produce one pound of beef. You basically need about 2,000 gallons of water per pound. Imagine how much water would be saved a day devoted to vegetables.

Now, if you buy vegetables, organic not to miss. You certainly will face more of a problem for the environment if you choose to go organic with their purchases. Also available in the local market. Not only support the economy but also help in reducing emissions of greenhouse gases.

There are still many things you can do as a chef, to help improve the environment. Little things to do to answer a question important environmental problem.
